Reading in
this history book about William Davenant, who comes to town in 1622 and buys "a splendid silk suit" with "no means, and possibly no intention" of paying for it. Then he gets a job fetching powdered unicorn horn for a duchess! So that sounds like a good gig. I may have to put this book aside for the "social history of ice" I just picked up at
Square Books because I'm writing a short article with ice in it so I have to read a 400-page book about ice.
