It does my old heart good to know that McNeil assigned a viewing of the George Romero killer monkey movie MONKEY SHINES to his students last semester AND that WITHOUT KNOWING of McNeil's previous assignment, Dr. Theresa is discussing the very same killer monkey movie with her winter intercession students today. Move over, Jane Austen! There's a fresh new face on the syllabus... and it belongs to an adorable killer monkey!

TV!

Hey, remember the Terminator? Well, he's back with all his buddies - in TV form, that is! Last Sunday, Theresa and I watched the new TV show all about the Terminator and his irrepressible antics. It proved to be so enjoyable that we're going to watch the second episode when it airs tonight. "I'll bet you're glad Summer Glau is in it," said Theresa, "so you can say her name like Jerry Lewis when you see it in the credits." To which I replied, "Yes!" As I have mentioned on the "blog" before, Summer Glau's name is one of the things I most enjoy saying in my famous Jerry Lewis voice. Theresa would also like to see the PBS production of Jane Austen's NORTHANGER ABBEY tonight, but only if it does not conflict with her Terminator show or, most especially, THE WIRE. "Fave" Lines

By coincidence, two persons have independently quoted their "fave" lines from something to me today. Jim Whorton (who, we are proud to report, informs us that he is a late blooming but enthusiastic participant in National Rewrite Your Novel Month) writes in to quote his favorite line from Chapter One of PRIDE AND PREJUDICE. It's when Mr. Bennet says to Mrs. Bennet, "I have a high respect for your nerves. They are my old friends." Meanwhile, Theresa quotes her favorite saying by the immortal Daffy Duck: "Thanks for the sour persimmons, cousin." Both lines are excellent, we think.
